What Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone JUST DID To Dalilah Muhammad In 400MH Is INSANE || U.S Olympic Trials 2024
The battle for the women’s 400-meter hurdles supremacy in the U.S. has been a tough one and it seems it’s getting even tougher. At one point Rio Olympic gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad was a dominant force in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. Dalilah Muhammad stands as the former 400 meter hurdles world record holder and she held the crown until she was dethroned by the sensational Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone at the 2021 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials when McLaughlin-Levrone overtook her clocking the then-world record of 51.90 seconds. McLaughlin-Levrone would later lower her world record mark to 51.46 seconds at the finals of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, whereas Muhammad finished in 51.58 seconds for a silver medal.
Since then, Levrone has consistently defended this position as the best hurdler in the world. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, McLaughlin-Levrone again lowered her world record mark over the 400 hurdles to 50.68 seconds. And so when Dalilah Muhammad lined up against Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in the 400 hurdles at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, the track community anticipated an epic showdown.
