Interview with Daniela Katlovska/ Interviu cu Dandzula Katlovska (water polo Steaua) – I.L.72 (162) (4.03.2024)
Hi everyone,
This is another interview done in English with a Slovakian woman polo player for Steaua Bucuresti that we are really proud of – Daniela (Dandzula Katlovska)
– she is originally from Kosice, Slovacia, born in 16.11.1995 (was born after the end of Czechoslovakia 1992), since 2020 in Bratislava
Player at rapid (2020-2022), Steaua (since 1.09.2022-present), 1.72m, 73Kg
Wears #11 on national team & Steaua. At the beginning she had #2 & #3
Up until 13 years old she played in the boys team. She became tougher
She started at 6 years old. Her uncle is a coach in Slovakia and former polo payer. A lot of people in her family are involved in sports
She used to do also basketball and gymnastics
2021 – Champion, Romanian Cup, SuperCup with rapid
2022 – Runner up with rapid
2023 – Champion, Romanian Cup with Steaua
FINA Women’s Water Polo Olympic Games – Qualification Tournament 2020 (Trieste, Italy)
LEN 2020 Women’s European Championships – 18th Edition (Budapest, Hungary)
2016-2017 – Champion, Cup (Chemnitz, Germany) with Schwimm-Club Chemnitz von 1892 e.V. (Black Pearls Team)
Strojnicka Fakulta TUKE, Kosice, Slovakia 2020 – Biomedicine at University of Engineering
Graduated High-School 2014
Doctoral Studies (PHD) at University of Bratislava
The title 2020 was cancelled during the COVID (Steaua & rapid had the same number of points)
For the title in 2021 was drinking champagne from the Cup in the pool
She likes roses. In the national team since 2012
In her youth years she scored even 10 goals/ game
Her best friend from Steaua’s team is Alexia
She had 3 major injuries:
1. 2-3 weeks after arriving at Steaua in a friendly game broke her nose
2. A knee injury
3. In a tournament in Germany injury bad on the face
Daniela is already part of Steaua’s history and we are proud with her
