Britain won the first gold medal of the World Aquatics Championships in the mixed team diving event on Friday.
Each team had to perform one individual dive each, plus a 3-metre synchronized dive and a 10-metre synchronized dive.
Tom Daley, Andrea Spendolini Sirieix, Daniel Goodfellow and Scarlett Mew Jensen earned a combined score of 421.65 points from their six dives to claim first place on the opening day of competition in Doha.
Mexico got the silver medal while Australia finished third and claimed bronze.
Daley, who is now a four-time world champion, was competing internationally for the first time since August 2021 when he won the men’s synchronised 10m platform gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Daley will compete with Noah Williams in the men’s 10m synchronized competition on Thursday (February 8). That event will double up as qualification for the Olympics as Daley attempts to compete at his fifth consecutive Games.
Doha is hosting the World Aquatics Championships which take place from February 2-18.
