2021 was a year that it will be difficult to forget for all the emotions and satisfactions it gave Italy and Italian sport in a magical summer, which saw the triumph of the national football team at Euro 2020, the continental successes of the volleyball for both men and women, the beautiful victories in cycling with Sonny Colbrelli in the Paris Roubaix that had been missing for many years, the world time trial of Filippo Ganna, the women’s world championship in line with Elisa Balsamo, Matteo Berrettini the first Italian to reach the final of Wimbledon, the Italy of basketball that by winning in Serbia against all odds returned to play the Olympics after an absence of 17 years, the touching Paralympics with a swim on the shields and a wonderful hat-trick in the 100 meters with Ambra Sabatini, Martina Caironi and Monica Contrafatto, up to the apotheosis of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with 40 medals, an absolute record for Italy at the Olympics and with 10 magnificent gold medals, some of which have already entered the legend of Italian sport, such as those of the first August 2021 when in 20 minutes we saw Gianmarco Tamberi win in the high jump and Marcell Jacobs in the 100 meters, two golds that overwhelmed the whole nation with enthusiasm.
