In the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the emergence of one of the World’s best track pursuit cyclists was happening on the World Stage. Dean Woods (‘Woodsy’) had barely turned 18 years old and was technically still a Junior age group rider when he ripped through five grueling rounds of the Individual Pursuit to contest the ride off for a Bronze medal.
After some interesting tactics by the American’s Woodsy would only lose the final and medal by a measly 0.05 seconds but would go on to take his revenge with his team-mates by winning the Team Pursuit gold medal. This video is the battle of the Individual Pursuit and his emergence to greatness.
