Kansai Television’s documentary about Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Kiyo Shimizu has been nominated for an International Emmy Award. The Emmy Awards are known as the Academy Awards of American television. The overseas version of the “International Emmy Awards” was nominated in the sports documentary category for “Kiyo no Kata” broadcast last August. This work was pursued for about eight years until Shimizu won the silver medal in karate and kata at the Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time that a Kansai Television program has been nominated for the International Emmy Awards. The award ceremony will be held in New York on November 21, and the best film will be announced from among the four films nominated in the sports documentary category.
