The “Wagyu Olympics” and the “National Wagyu Ability Exhibition” will be held in Kagoshima in October. With just over two months to go until the tournament, full-scale judging is underway in various places for the seat of the prefectural representative. The National Wagyu Talent Competition, also known as the “Wagyu Olympics,” is a competition every five years where excellent wagyu beef from all over the country gather to compete for the results of their improvements, and will be held in Kagoshima from October 6th to 10th this year. A total of 500 cows in Kagoshima Prefecture were exhibited in the “Seed Cattle Division”, which is judged according to the age of the cow, and in the “Special Zone”, where young people from high schools and agricultural colleges compete. It was cut in half. Starting in July, the second round of preliminaries has been held in each region, and the selected cows will face the final preliminaries in late August to select the prefecture’s representative cow. With just over two months left until the competition, the judges are touching, pushing, and pinching the cows at the second qualifying venues in each district to check their growth. Both the judges and the producers will look at the beef that has been polished more than at the first qualifying round. Please see the video for details.
