This event was planned by Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, as part of its efforts to create a legacy, and Makoto Iijima, a cyclist who competed in three Olympic Games, also participated as a guest. While walking on a wooden course with a maximum slope of 45 degrees, the participants seemed to feel the lingering aftereffects of the fierce battle when they saw the injuries caused by the athletes’ falls.
