The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office launched a compulsory investigation yesterday over a consulting contract between a former director of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and a sponsor company. Interviews with stakeholders revealed that the former director had an influence on the sponsor-related departments of the Organizing Committee. The person who was searched for a house on suspicion of consignment bribery was related to former director Haruyuki Takahashi of the Organizing Committee. Former director Takahashi’s company signed a consultant contract with the tournament sponsor AOKI, a major men’s clothing company, in 2017, and received a total of approximately 45 million yen. Former director Takahashi is a former managing director of the advertising giant Dentsu. Many of the marketing bureaus, which had been reviewing contracts with sponsors and competition-related products at the Organizing Committee, were seconded from Dentsu, and we learned from interviews with related parties that Mr. Takahashi was influential. The Special Investigation Department is expected to conduct a home search to Dentsu to clarify the actual situation. ▼ TBS NEWS DIG official website https://newsdig.tbs.co.jp/ ▼ Please subscribe! http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6AG81pAkf6Lbi_1VC5NmPA?sub_confirmation=1 ▼ Click here for information “TBS Insiders” https://www.tbs.co.jp/news_sp/tbs-insiders.html ▼ Video provided Click here for “TBS Scoop Post” https://www.tbs.co.jp/news_sp/toukou.html
