Athletes from Hamamatsu City who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics were presented with the City’s newly established Citizen’s Honor Award. The awards were given to Mana Atsumi, who was the driving force behind winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics Softball, Takayuki Suzuki, who won five medals including gold in the Paralympic Swimming, and 21 in the Paralympic Swimming during his active career. They are Junichi Kawai, the leader of the Tokyo Paralympic Games who won individual medals. Mayor Suzuki presented a certificate of commendation in honor of “I would like to pay tribute to the achievements of the three people again.” The Hamamatsu City Citizen’s Honor Award was established at this Tokyo convention to give to those who have made a big impression on the citizens through sports.
