Dodgers Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw seven shutout innings vs the Yankees in June

“that experience will benefit him, but “this is the World Series – the lineup might be different…I’m going to study and get myself ready for the lineup”

“Obviously this is my first time, first World Series, so I’m going to do my very best to give it as much contribution as possible to the team. Every time I pitch the last three games, I become more comfortable and I’m feeling better. Of course it’s a World Series, so I might face a challenge, but I think I’m — because that benefits me, those previous three outings during the postseason.” -Los Angeles Dodgers Yoshinobu Yamamoto game 2 starter Press Conference

Yamamoto and Rodón Gear Up for Game 2 Duel in the World Series
LHP Carlos Rodón (1-1, 4.40 ERA) vs. RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1-0, 5.11 ERA)

In a pivotal Game 2 matchup at Dodger Stadium, Dodgers’ rookie sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto will face Yankees’ veteran Carlos Rodón as these two historic franchises clash once more in the World Series. Yamamoto, who joined the Dodgers with the dream of pitching on baseball’s grandest stage, brings both confidence and humility to his first World Series appearance, telling reporters, “This is my first time, first World Series, so I’m going to do my very best to give as much contribution as possible to the team.”

After coming off an injury earlier this season, Yamamoto found his rhythm in the postseason, delivering scoreless innings in crucial moments. Reflecting on those starts, Yamamoto shared, “Every time I pitch the last three games, I become more comfortable and I’m feeling better. Of course, it’s the World Series, so I might face a challenge, but I think…those previous outings [have] prepared me.” When asked about his dominant June outing against the Yankees, he added, “The experience from June will benefit me a little bit, but this is the World Series…so I’m going to study and get myself ready.”

Across the field, Yankees’ starter Carlos Rodón is equally prepared to bring his best to Game 2. The Yankees are making their first World Series appearance since 2009 and rely heavily on Rodón’s arm to help secure a win on the road. Rodón, who battled through some struggles this season, emphasized the importance of keeping his team in the game. “For us to get where we are, we’ve had to trust our approach in big games. Tomorrow’s a big one, and I’m here to give it everything to help us take it home.”

“you go and you compete. We’re all pretty good. I know they have good hitters, but we’re here for a reason, I’m here for a reason. I think our lineup is just as good. Honestly, I think we’re better, but I’m biased. Yeah, I’m here, I’m a Big Leaguer too. I’m supposed to get those guys out. That’s what I’m paid for. Yeah, we wouldn’t be in this position if we didn’t think that way. I’m sure they think they’re better than us too. That’s how we have to approach this,” Rodón says about the Dodgers dangerous lineup.

Both pitchers face daunting lineups. The Dodgers’ explosive offense, powered by stars like Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, will test Rodón, while Yamamoto will contend with the Yankees’ heavy hitters, including Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. The Japanese ace is ready for the challenge, saying, “I signed with the Dodgers because I really wanted to win…especially my first year, I’ve come this far to play on this big stage. I’m able to go out there with these great teammates.”

With two power pitchers and two powerful lineups, Game 2 promises a thrilling duel. The stakes are high, and Yamamoto and Rodón are ready to lead their teams as both franchises pursue yet another championship.
