Israel’s Linoy Ashram stunned pre-event favourites ROC’s Dina and Arina Averina to win gold in rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around finals with an overall score 107.800.

The 22-year-old athlete came out firing with three beautifully executed routines in ball, hoops and clubs to gain an early lead. While she dropped the ribbon during her last routine, she still scored 23.000 enough to keep her on top to win Israel’s first Olympic medal in rhythmic gymnastics.

However, Dina wasn’t about to make it easy for the Israeli athlete and performed a stunning ball routine to equal Ashram’s ball score. She gave it her all in the clubs and ribbon but came up 0.150 points short behind Ashram’s score at 107.650, eventually leading to her silver medal.

Meanwhile, her twin sister Arina had a mishap in her ribbon routine which cost her points to drop in fourth place and miss the podium whilst Belarus’ Alina Harnasko picked up bronze.
