Sport Climbing’s second Olympic showing kicked off today at Le Bourget in the northeastern suburbs of Paris. The men’s Boulder semi-final filled the 6,000-capacity stand and many athletes had their first taste of competing on the world’s biggest sporting stage. Japan’s Sorato Anraku topped the leaderboard after a dominant two-Top performance in a hard round (69.0/100 points), while his teammate Tomoa Narasaki finished 2nd (54.4/100). Team GB’s Toby Roberts placed 3rd (54.1/100) and Hamish McArthur 8th (34.2/100) – a good sign for both ahead of their strongest discipline – Lead – on Wednesday.
