The fate of Bayern Munich’s new defender Hiroki Ito is truly unfortunate. He has been sidelined for at least two months after sustaining a metatarsal fracture in his right foot. Ito started when Bayern played a friendly against FC Düren on Sunday evening (7/28/2024) WIB. However, he only lasted 21 minutes after collapsing due to a tackle from his opponent. Ito groaned in pain while holding his right leg. Afterward, he received treatment and limped off the field without wearing his right shoe. After the match, the results of the medical team’s examination were announced and the results were worrying as the metatarsal bone in Ito’s right foot was fractured. The defender from Japan had to go on the operating table to recover. Therefore, Ito is expected to be absent for at least the next 2 to 3 months. This means that Ito will miss the start of the 2024/2025 season and is not expected to be able to make his debut until October. This is certainly a setback for Ito, who was originally supposed to fill the Bayern center-back position. Ito was brought in from Stuttgart after his good performance last season. “Of course, this is a heavy blow for us. We will fully support Hiroki so that he can recover quickly,” Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said on the club’s official website.
