[Race walking and long-distance relay athlete]Ayane Yanai is a third-year student in the women’s track and field team at Ritsumeikan University. Her specialty is race walking. Yanai, who is from Fukuoka Prefecture, started track and field in elementary school and focused on long-distance events. She aimed to enter Ritsumeikan University when she was still in elementary school. At the time, she admired Ritsumeikan University, which had won the All-Japan University Women’s Long-distance Relay for five consecutive years since 2011. This feeling is also written in her elementary school graduation essay. She successfully fulfilled her dream and entered Ritsumeikan University. She is active as a two-sword athlete in both race walking and long-distance relay, being selected as a member of the national long-distance relay team as well.[The number one student walker, heading to the Paris Olympics!]Yanai, who had been working hard in long-distance events, first encountered race walking when she was in high school. She was able to balance long-distance events and race walking, and won the National Inter-High School Championships when she was in her third year. She had thought of quitting race walking after that, but Nanako Fujii, a senior at high school and a member of the Japanese team at the Tokyo Olympics, asked her if she wanted to try for the U20 World Championships, so she decided to continue. She then won the selection tournament and won a bronze medal at the U20 World Championships 10,000m Race Walk in her first year of university. However, the regret of not winning made her serious about race walking. In her second year of university, she was selected to represent Japan at the World University Games and the World Championships. She also broke the student records for the 10km and 10,000m race walks! As a result of her continued brilliant performance, including placing third in the 20km race walk at the Japan Championships, she was selected to represent Japan in the mixed race walking relay at the Paris Olympics. The mixed race walking relay is a new event in which participants walk the full marathon distance in the order of men ⇒ women ⇒ men ⇒ women. “I want everyone to see me walking with a smile on my face!” We interviewed Yanai, who is expected to win gold medals in the race walking and mixed relay at the Paris Olympics. ★Subscribe★ here⇒https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsoJhpdYq3TRfGVibGy-iXA?sub_confirmation=1 #Yanai Ayane #RitsumeikanUniversity #ParisOlympics[What is the Asu-Reit Channel?]The Asu-Reit Channel is an original video service packed with information on Kansai athletes, launched from Yomiuri TV’s sports program “Asu-Reit” (broadcast every Saturday from 11:35).
