Uno Shoma secured the silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang by clinching third place in both the short program and the free skate, finishing 1.66 points ahead of Spain’s Javier Fernández, who claimed the bronze medal.
At the 2022 Beijing Games, Uno Shoma commenced his Olympic journey representing Japan in the men’s short program of the Olympic team event. Delivering a flawless performance, he earned a remarkable second place behind the United States’ Chen, achieving a new personal best score of 105.46 and securing nine crucial points for Team Japan.
Team Japan won the bronze medal in the team competition, marking their inaugural podium finish in this event and securing Uno’s second Olympic medal. Shortly after, Uno continued his individual quest, placing third in the men’s short program two days later. Despite a minor error in his jump combination, he attained another personal best score of 105.90. Although his free skate performance was somewhat less polished, placing him fifth in that segment, Uno maintained his third position overall, thus clinching the bronze medal, his third Olympic podium finish.
